5 Best Superhero Movies Of All Time, According To IMDb

IMDb ratings have developed a list of the top superhero movies ever made, as the genre continues to gross billions of dollars.

It's reasonable to say that Hollywood has produced a lot of high-caliber superhero movies over the past few decades. The Batman will be the ninth live-action Caped Crusader movie, and Thor: Love and Thunder will be the 29th flim in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although not all of them have received the same praise, the most of them are truly powerful.

With a combination of high ratings and a city's worth of votes in their favour, these superhero movies have taken the top rankings on IMDb out of the few hundred superhero movies that have been released from before TV to the present.

The Dark Knight (2008) - 9.0

The Dark Knight is the fourth-highest-rated movie overall, among tens of thousands of titles, which gives the Dark Knight trilogy the best IMDb average. This is in addition to the fact that all three movies are in the top ten superhero movies on IMDb. It's not surprising that it's IMDb's top superhero movie.

The story, which is really headed by Heath Ledger's Joker as he and Batman are engaged in a truly epic war for Gotham's soul to establish whose worldview is correct—order and decency, or chaos and destruction—is what has garnered the most praise. It is mythical in nature and has historical resonance dating back to the first written accounts.

2 /5

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - 8.4

Rent On Vudu

The Dark Knight trilogy's conclusion, The Dark Knight Rises, was released to theatres later that summer, just as the MCU was about to reach its full potential in 2012 with The Avengers. Similar to Logan, it examines what happens when a hero's journey comes to a close. However, in this instance, the conclusion sees Batman deified as Gotham's supreme rescuer, a title he's unquestionably earned.

Since Nolan addressed each film individually, Rises was never guaranteed to even be made, but IMDb is undoubtedly appreciative that he did. Rises only has the potential to be viewed as a disappointment because of the absurd expectations that its predecessor movie raised.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) - 8.4

Avengers: Endgame, the second act of Infinity War, combined a time travel, heist, and superhero movie into one. Since half of the Infinity War ensemble was absent until the decisive fight, viewers got to spend more time with the survivors, many of whom were among the MCU's oldest characters.

Although the terrible transformation of half the universe into dust was inevitable, there was always hope that it would be reversed in Endgame. However, the non-dust deaths in Endgame are unavoidable. Nothing less than tears were expected from the audience when they saw Natasha and Tony give their life to rescue the universe and Steve Rogers finally get the chance to retire and be happy.

4 /5

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - 8.4

Stream On Disney+

The culmination of more than ten years' worth of labour across 17 MCU films, Avengers: Infinity War was eagerly anticipated in 2018 and garnered hundreds of millions of views on YouTube for its initial teaser. These expectations were met, if not surpassed, in some way by the movie.

It was incredibly thrilling to see every major MCU character together on screen, but crossover movies are at their best when their novelty is combined with excellent character development and every actor brings their A-game (pun intended). One of the hardest challenges for the second film in this two-part drama is set up when half the heroes turn to dust, which feels like a tragedy on the biggest of scales.

5 /5

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) - 8.4

Stream On FXNow

Of all, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse may not have been if it hadn't made such a significant impression on its own. Despite having the lowest box office earnings of all the Spider-Man movies, Spider-Verse was a fan favourite and received the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

It also demonstrated that audiences were capable of not only accepting the idea of various Spider-people and various realities, but also that they could find it to be one of the greatest animated films of all time by coming out three years before the MCU would start to explore the concept of a multiverse. That is why it is difficult yet worthwhile to wait for Across the Spider-Verse.
